Janey Bishoff

Janey Bishoff Janey provides counsel, guidance and hands-on assistance to companies, organizations, and institutions in areas such as: marketing and communications plans and programs, messaging and message development, media relations, social media strategies, and marketing and communications staffing, budgets, and infrastructure.

As the founder of two successful communications agencies and a thriving consultancy, Janey understands the needs of leaders, entrepreneurs and entrepreneurial organizations. She possesses an analytical orientation and believes in maximizing resources to achieve meaningful impact.

Janey developed a specialty in crisis communications long before it was adopted across the communications industry as a practice area and used her skills, organizational know-how and business experience to become an expert crisis manager. She understands the organizational impact of crisis and guides executives and leaders on managing through crisis from directing the executive and crisis teams to processes and logistics.

A respected leader among her peers, Janey was recognized with the Crystal Bell Lifetime Achievement Award from the Publicity Club of New England  for her significant contribution to the public relations profession and her visionary communications leadership. Janey and her teams’ campaigns and other work on behalf of clients has been recognized with dozens of awards from several industry organizations including the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), The Communicator Crystal Award of Excellence, the McDonald’s Corporation Best Bets Awards as well as the Publicity Club of New England.  She was honored at Boston University by being elected to the Collegium of Distinguished Alumni of the University’s College of Arts and Sciences.

A speaker and lecturer on crisis at professional forums and events, Janey has been an adjunct Professor at Boston University College of Communications, where she taught Corporate Crisis Management, and at Regis College where she taught Public Relations.  She has also lectured on public relations and crisis communications at many other Massachusetts colleges and universities.

Among her many accomplishments, Janey is most proud of her work highlighting Boston’s innovation history, and the region’s many world-changing innovations and innovators, which can be seen in a permanent installation at Boston’s Logan Airport.

Long active in the Greater Boston business and civic community, Janey is currently a Mentor at MIT’s Venture Mentoring Service where she advises start-up companies, and is an active Board Member of New England ADL (Anti-Defamation League) and AJC New England.

She holds a Master’s Degree from MIT in Urban Public Policy and Planning from the School of Architecture and Planning and is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Boston University.
